Bloom County t-shirt

Years ago I saw a Bloom County t-shirt of Steve Dallas drinking a martini.
Does anyone know where I can get this t-shirt?  Perhaps someone knows of
a mail-order catalog which sells Bloom County novelty items.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Baby Blues merchandise

Well, I’m not normally interested in cartoon-strip merchandising, but at
the Toys R Us this week I saw a baby gift set of bottles, bibs, and a
teether with "Baby Blues" cartoons on it. How wonderfully subversive! I
routinely give the first Baby Blues book to new parents–it’s the only
honest depiction of new parenthood they’re likely to find.

My kid’s outgrown bottles and teethers, but I’d love to see the bibs sold
separately, along with other toddler-suitable stuff (onesies? t-shirts?
tippy cups? feeding bowls? splat mats?) with Baby Blues images. Rick
Kirkman, are you reading this? Any plans?

And if the marketers are interested in a suggestion: Bottles don’t make
a good gift choice, as many new moms breastfeed, and those who do use a
bottle have to find a type that suits their baby’s needs. So it would
make more sense to have these items sold separately, for the parents
themselves to buy what suits them, rather than in a gift set that would
be inappropriate in many cases. I’d hate to see this truly original
merchandising effort flop because the items are sold only in gift sets.

"Rhymes with Orange"?

The Chicago Tribune added a new comic strip called "Rhymes with Orange" on
Monday…not bumping any other strip, but decreasing the size of the
bridge column, Jumble, and "The Lockhorns."  Anyone know anything about
this strip?  The cartoonist (whose name I can’t remember right now) has an
AOL address.

Zippy/Bloom Permissions (+Rose is Rose)

I am publishing a book on consciousness, and would like to include a
couple of comic strips from Bloom County and Zippy the Pinhead.  Does
anyone know who I should write to for permission?  (I have already
got permission from Universal Press Syndicate to use a Calvin and
Hobbes — any chance that BC and ZtP are with UPS too?)

P.S. While here I will register my opinion that these days "Rose is
Rose" is the best strip on the comic pages, having passed Calvin and
Hobbes a while back.  Consistently fresh and original and beautifully
drawn.  I’m surprised there’s not more discussion of it here.

Art Comics adding new features

We just picked up
"Flashers" by Elliot Feldman.

To start on July 10th will be "Thringst" by Larry Rodman.

"Showcase" will be featuring "The Way I See It" by Tom Hapgood for the month
of July.

"Groups" by Michael Art is scheduled to start in July.

Also, Mark Chorvinsky of Strange Magazine is doing a daily news feature for us
about the Strangest things and answers your questions.

All of these features are created six days a week, are not reprints, are
available for paid syndication feeds and subscriptions starting around
October.  Currently our features are feed out to the web for free.

We hope to announce real soon some news that a cartoonist who would never be
able to produce a daily for the newspaper syndicates because of their
policies, will be allowed free rein with Art Comics.

Isn't anyone pissed off at J.J. leaving Mike?

It seems as though I am the last remaining reader of Doonesbury. Lord
knows noone else I have spoken to has kept up with the strip. But I have
to tell you, Trudeau has been pissing me off. I hate to admit it, but I
have grown attached to those characters and I can’t believe JJ would throw
all of her life away for some relic, a completely unhip guy if I have ever
saw one. I mean, had Trudeau changed Zeke from this dopey hippie look to a
goth thing ala Trent Reznor, I can believe her splitting. But come on!

I know, get a grip. It’s only a comic strip. I suppose it just hits too
close to home. I would be pissed as shit if that were to happen to me.
Mike ought to sow some oats now. But I’d rather this be a bad dream.

Who shot Burns, (Was: Robotman)

In article <3sah4p$…@news1.usa.pipeline.com>, MattHasson@(Matthew Hasson) writes:

Did I miss the discussion of this?  I figured it was Burns himself
who shot at his reflection and got hit by his ricochet.

Re: Robotman…return of the Mildes?

Richard L. Carreiro (rlc…@animato.pn.com) wrote:

I thought this was great!  Meddick couldn’t possibly have planned this
when the Mildes dropped out of sight.  I don’t think X-Files was even
on then.  Perhaps … Jim Meddick is an alien!
